What is it?
The task was to team up and redesign your partner’s desk. I was with Hannah who lives in Zurich whilst I was based in Brussels.

Problem statement
The space is visually cluttered, dark and Hannah constantly lacks energy to tidy it properly. How can Hannah keep her desk tidy without it requiring too much energy and it still remind her both of things she likes and things she needs to do?
Solution
As Hannah lives in Zurich I interviewed her digitally and used the results to guide my ideation.

Challenges and Takeaways
This was my first time conducting a user interview so there were a few rookie errors. More questions about her behaviour during her work at her desk and not only about the kind of work she used her desk for would have meant better user understanding and proposed solutions.

Hannah was excited about the ideas of putting a blanket over the cabinet, the new lighting solutions and having a file organiser for the “now” pile of papers that moved about the flat – it is rewarding to understand who you’re designing for and for them to then like your ideas!
